Bharatkhand Consortium of Farmers Producer Company Limited

Bharatkhand Consortium is formed, to support Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) through institutional strengthening, business planning, legal compliances, market linkages as key interventions,
among many others to develop a sustainable and farmers inclusive agricultural value chain.

It is generally observed that small FPO’s struggle to establish their business model because of lack of scale/volume, market linkages
and professional handholding support. This generated the need of
a structure to assist these FPO’s and Bharatkhand Consortium was formed.

The consortium supports smallholders develop scalable and commercially viable business models for the domestic as well as
global agricultural value chains, and thereby devlelop a Sustainable Supply Chain and an ecosystem around equitable model of prosperity in agriculture.

The consortium facilitates partnership between farmers and modern Markets as well as facilitate aggregation model for inputs and sourcing for agro-produce etc. With the support of the consortium, the FPOs would also be equipped with the innovative tools like traceability and they would also be prepared for sustainability, various certifications, organic and carbon markets etc.

1. Community

At Bharatkhand, we believe in the power of community to drive meaningful and sustainable change. We are dedicated towards fostering deep-rooted connections with smallholder farmers and empowering them through collective
decision-making and equitable benefit-sharing practices. We actively strengthen governance systems and facilitate collaborative decision-making processes. A well structural operational manual has been developed and put in place which governs and defines the roles, responsibility, delegation of power, organizational structure, vision, mission, system of transparency & amp; accountability. We actively involve farmers and supply chain stakeholders in shaping the strategies and initiatives that directly impact the lives of smallholders. By prioritizing community voices, we ensure that the decisions we make are inclusive, transparent and reflective of local needs and aspirations. The governing system and governing body have been empowered to develop ownership and participation in decision making process.
Bharatkhand champions a profit-sharing model designed to empower farming communities. By distributing rewards equitably among farming communities, we not only ensure fair compensation for their hard work and dedication. Bharatkhand ensures that the marginalized and vulnerable groups have equal opportunities to participate, benefit and thrive in the agricultural supply chain. We implement targeted strategies to foster inclusion and equity among farming communities.
We actively engage smallholders and women farmers as well as promote women's leadership within FPOs, (like women driven FPOs) with the objectives to we ensure that their voices are heard in decision-making processes. We are deeply committed towards promoting local agricultural development and ensuring that economic benefits remain within the community. Our approach prioritizes partnerships with local entrepreneurs, processors, businesses and stakeholders to build a sustainable, inclusive and resilient economy.

4. Good Work

At Bharatkhand, we ensure fair labour practices and decent working conditions for workers involved in the agricultural supply chain. We ensure that workers are treated with fairness and respect.
Our production and sourcing practices include mandatory compliance with decent wages, safe, healthy working conditions and freedom from discrimination. By supporting women farmers and workers through equal pay, leadership opportunities and access to resources, we foster a more inclusive work environment. 5. Democratic Ownership

At Bharatkhand, we are committed towards building a democratic ownership model within Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) that ensure active participation, transparency and equitable benefits for all members.
A robust governance system has been put in place which is guiding force for operation, decision making process, transparency and accountability, delegation of power, decentralized planning, participatory and informed decision-making process. Bharatkhand is governed by its Board of Directors who also belong to farming community and running their own FPO in different geographies. Bharatkhand encourages democratic ownership by allowing farmers to hold equity shares in their FPOs. The profit-sharing model we implement further strengthens democratic ownership by ensuring that the financial benefits from the collective effort are distributed fairly among all members.
Bharatkhand Board Members are taking decisions for company in a democratic way and ensures every move having the ownership of all members. We are committed to promoting sustainable and regenerative agriculture by encouraging practices that enhance productivity while enhancing biodiversity and minimizing environmental impact. We work closely with farmers and FPOs to implement regenerative agriculture practices,
which improve resilience to climate change. Bharatkhand is implementing various training and capacity building programs for farming community to encourage them to follow crop specific Good Agriculture Practices for ensuring the sustainable production by underlining the social and environmental aspects. We promote sustainability standards and third-party certifications like regenagri to ensure that the produce meet the environmental and social standards, contributing to the long-term health of the land and local ecosystems.
